TRIO SSS Application

The following application will be used, along with other supporting materials, to determine your eligibility to participate in the TRIO SSS program.  Please read each section carefully and answer all the questions to the best of your ability.  In order to fully complete the application, please have the following materials ready:

-Information on your taxable income (if you are an independent student) or your family's taxable income and family size (if you are a dependent student). You may wish to reference your 2020 Income Tax Return document to retrieve this information. 

(PARENT/GUARDIAN information is required for “dependent” students – i.e. if the student is less than 24 years old, not married, not emancipated, parental income is reported on FAFSA )

(PARENT/GUARDIAN information is NOT required for “independent” students—i.e. if the student is 24 or older, married or emancipated, parental income is not reported on FAFSA)

TRIO SSS Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for TRIO SSS, students must meet one or more of the following:

Be a first-generation college student (neither parent or guardian has completed a four-year college degree)
Meet federal low-income guidelines
Have a documented disability

 Also, every applicant must be:
Enrolled at Westminster College
Enrolled in a 4-year program (Bachelor’s Degree)
A U.S. Citizen or national of the United States or meets the residency requirements for Federal Student Financial Aid
In need of academic support, as determined by Westminster College, to pursue a postsecondary educational program successfully

 
Do you give your consent to TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) program staff members to obtain information from the following Westminster College offices for determination of program eligibility and federal reporting?

First-Generation Eligibility

The Following questions will determine your eligibility to enroll in the program as a First-Generation student.

Prior to the age of 18, did you regularly reside in a single parent or guardian household, where the parent or guardian did not have a bachelor's degree?

Disability Eligibility

The following questions will determine your eligibility to enroll as a student with a disability.

Do you have a documented physical, medical, or psychological disability?

Do you receive any sort of Housing accommodation at Westminster College, including an Emotional Support Animal?

Have you Registered with Westminster's Disability Resources Office?  (Registration is required for admission into TRIO SSS as a student with a disability).

Income Eligibility

The following questions will determine your eligibility to enroll as an income-eligible student.  Please complete only one one of the following sections below.

Option 4: I am unable to provide income information at this time.  Please retrieve my most recent FAFSA information from the Financial Aid office.  

*Please note, this option may require additional verification and will delay the processing of your application.  We recommend submitting income information if at all possible to ensure a prompt review and response to your application.*


Required Signatures

Note:  Both Student and Parent/Guardian signatures are required for dependent students.  Independent students do not require a parent signature, and may write "Independent" in the parent/guardian section.
